Our K-12 School Customers
Since the beginning, Peak Season has always worked to bring Maine students closer to food grown right around the corner.
How We Work With Schools
We make buying local simple. We source exclusively from Maine farmers and food producers and make it easy for you with one order, one invoice, and one delivery.
Local Food Funds
For K-12 Schools, we actively support the Local Food Fund program
In 2021, the State of Maine established the Local Foods Fund, a financial resource for public schools to be reimbursed one dollar for every three they spent on local food by the state — such as veggies, cheese, meat, yogurt, beans, tofu, etc. — up to a maximum of $5,000 per year. This year, schools will be reimbursed one dollar for every two dollars they spend on local food, up to a maximum contribution of $10,000. Learn more on the Department of Education’s (DOE) website here or reach out to Katie Knowles, Local Foods Fund Coordinator, via email: Katie.Knowles@maine.gov
Delivery
We deliver to schools in 14 of Maine’s 16 counties, including areas further afield that often lack easy access to high-quality produce and local food products.
